In acknowledgement of the work which we do in our Community presented November 2016

We would like to thank everyone in our community who helped in any way and are delighted to have received
It's Your Station - GOLD Award - Best in the UK
This is about much more than plants and gardens it is about involving the community in which we live and the competition was very tough - we were judged by the gentleman who is in charge at RHS Harlow Carr in Yorkshire for the work on the gardens.
The artwork, community involvement and input from everyone goes into the mix when this is judged
- so the people of Hindley -  take a bow.

RHS Judging Day 2014
(to see our results from the RHS Competition see 2014 Competition Success bottom left)

'Creation Community Art' from Pye Studios  in Market Street joined us this year on Judging Day and  brought along their exhibition to Celebrate Hindley sponsored by ADACTUS HOUSING.

The members had enjoyed doing this artwork to celebrate our town and were proud to show off its natural beauty spots, local amenities, wonderful people and of course, prize-winning station!

There is a small deer hidden in each painting - HIND (female deer) LEY (clearing in woodland)
what a credit they all are to HINDLEY.

Here are some of the beautiful paintings:

The Friends of Hindley Station (FOHS) are a group of volunteers who meet and work together to benefit the railway station in Ladies Lane, Hindley, Wigan.

The group meets monthly (see Diary Dates) at the Edington Arms pub which stands next to the station.

Work has now commenced on the Wigan Bound side and has come on a pace since the summer of 2013.  This side will be our 'wild natural side' as we have lots of wildlife which we want to encourage, the bird boxes built by Hindley High students have already had residents in their first year.

Why not come and join us and get involved in working on the station, see our Diary Dates for more information.  We look forward to meeting and working with you.
